Meet our Orthodontists

At Ripley Orthodontics, we are fortunate to have the expertise of specialist orthodontists, Dr Sarah Felmingham and Dr Zania Lung. Find out more about them and why they enjoy bringing a smile to the faces of our patients.

Sarah studied dentistry at Bristol University qualifying in 1999. She worked in general practice in Bristol and subsequently in several hospitals in Bristol and Liverpool. During which time Sarah gained a wide experience in orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, oral medicine, special needs dentistry, restorative and oral and maxillofacial surgery. This vast experience enabled her to gain her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) in 2002. Subsequently she worked as a specialist in paediatric dentistry in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Liverpool University Dental Hospital.

Sarah started her orthodontic postgraduate training in 2003 at The Eastman Dental Hospital, The Royal Berkshire Hospital and Slough Wexham Park Hospital. In 2006 she gained her MSc in Orthodontics from UCL. In January 2007 Sarah was awarded her Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh gaining entry to the specialist list. Sarah has worked at several specialist practices as an associate in Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex. She joined Ripley Orthodontics in 2011 bringing with her expertise in treating nervous patients, special needs patients and adults requiring more complex treatment. She specialises in a range of fixed, removable and functional appliance types. She is a registered user of the Incognito and Invisalign systems.

Sarah has a particular interest in treating nervous patients who may require a little more TLC and explanation to enable them to access orthodontic treatment. She also has a particular interest in using aesthetic invisible brace systems. Sarah is passionate about providing her patients with beautiful straight teeth and a smile to be proud of. Her ethos is to treat patients in a kind considerate way which will ensure the process of having orthodontic treatment is a positive experience. To educate her patients in the ways of good dental health habits which she hopes will stay with them for life keeping them smiling.

Sarah is Mum to Emily and Isobel. Time permitting, she enjoys travelling, cooking, spending time with her family and yoga.

Dr Zania Lung

Dr Zania Lung

After wearing braces as a teenager, Dr Lung became interested in pursuing a career in dentistry. Particularly in the area of orthodontics. She enjoys working with patients, helping them achieve the perfect smile and improving their self-esteem and confidence. She loves the positive impact orthodontics has on children and adults.

Dr Lung qualified as a General Dentist from King’s College, University of London in 2000. She worked as a general dentist in Norfolk and in Surrey. She then embarked on doing several hospital posts in Oral Medicine, Restorative Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, and Special Needs Dentistry both as a Community and a Hospital Dentist. She worked in several hospitals, Queen Victoria Hospital, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Eastman Dental Hospital, Guy’s and King’s College, London. During this time, Dr Lung gained membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery in 2003. She is also a published author in high impact journals; The British Dental Journal and the Journal of Orthodontics.

Dr Lung started her Post graduate Specialist Training in Orthodontics in 2006 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. She then gained her MPhil in 2008 and her Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons In England in 2009.

Dr Lung has worked in Specialist Practice as an Associate since 2009. She is able to provide a range of treatments from aligners to fixed conventional appliances and lingual fixed appliances.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Lung is a big fan of Disney and aims to visit all of the Disneyland’s in the world. She is already two-thirds of the way there. She loves baking muffins and experimenting with different flavours. Dr Lung enjoys spending time with her family and undertaking outdoor pursuits.
